      <image:title>Home - ORIENTEERING (NEW!)</image:title>
<image:caption>ORIENTEERING involves using a special detailed map to choose and follow the best route from one control (checkpoint) to the next. ‘Best’ route depends on YOU; it could be the shortest or flattest or smoothest or driest or least prickly or the most certain to find the control easily. It all depends on skill level and physical ability and personal preference. Orienteering can be enjoyed by all as a sport or as a recreational activity. You can RUN, JOG or HIKE the course. You can do it ON YOUR OWN, WITH A FRIEND or AS A FAMILY. (In a competition, the competitive orienteer has to compete on his/her own, but there will usually also be recreational courses for hikers, couples and families). Participants of any age or experience are welcome at all Edmonton Orienteering events. Every event, from a low-key city park event to a major championship, has instruction included in the entry fee and an easy course/loop for beginners. You don’t need special equipment to get started – just wear clothes suitable for the weather and old, comfy shoes. For forest events, as a safety precaution, you must carry a whistle – bring your own if you have one. Fees at forest events include rental of SPORTident electronic timing card, compass and whistle if you don’t have your own. The Edmonton Overlanders Orienteering Club runs regular events in city parks and in the forest, from mid-May until September. For more information, visit www.orienteer.ab.ca</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - QUADBALL</image:title>
<image:caption>Quadball combines the strategy of basketball and soccer, with the basic skills of handball, dodgeball, tag, and flag football to create something entirely new. The sport originated in 2005 and has gone through a lot of transformation into what you see today. The sport is played in over 40 countries and continues to grow! The Edmonton Quadball Association wants everyone to have fun playing quadball; that’s why we have a variety of leagues to fit your sport needs. Recreation quadball teaches the basic skills while maintaining excitement and interest. Those who may not consider themselves sporty have found a place in quadball. Traditional sporting environments can place a high value on natural skill, sports sense, and a thin body. Rec quadball challenges these values and believes everyone can succeed and have fun regardless of skill, athleticism, and experience. We want to make sport accessible for all. Quadball’s origins included all genders in our rulebook. From its inception, quadball has been a sport where trans athletes can play sports in a gender-affirming space. From there Edmonton Quadball Association has made inclusivity a goal, and has aimed to make affordability a top priority. The club covers fees for low-income players, including students so everyone who wants to can play. For more information, visit www.edmontonquadball.com</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home Testing - ORIENTEERING (NEW!) (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>ORIENTEERING involves using a special detailed map to choose and follow the best route from one control (checkpoint) to the next. ‘Best’ route depends on YOU; it could be the shortest, or flattest, or smoothest or driest, or least prickly or the most certain to find the control easily. It all depends on skill level and physical ability and personal preference. Orienteering can be enjoyed by all as a sport or as a recreational activity. You can RUN, JOG or HIKE the course. You can do it ON YOUR OWN, WITH A FRIEND or AS A FAMILY. (In a competition, the competitive orienteer has to compete on his/her own, but there will usually also be recreational courses for hikers, couples and families).Participants of any age or experience are welcome at all Edmonton Orienteering events. Every event, from a low-key city park event to a major championship, has instruction included in the entry fee and an easy course/loop for beginners. You don’t need special equipment to get started – just wear clothes suitable for the weather and old comfy shoes. For forest events, as a safety precaution, you must carry a whistle – bring your own if you have one. Fees at forest events include rental of SPORTident electronic timing card, compass and whistle if you don’t have your own. The Edmonton Overlanders Orienteering Club runs regular events in city parks and in the forest, from mid May until September. Events: -Edmonton Overlanders will be hosting the 2025 Canadian Championships (August 15-24, 2025). Nine days of orienteering activities, starting with Western Canadian Championships near Red Deer and wrapping up with the Canadian Championships near Edmonton. From its inception, quadball has been a sport where trans athletes can play sports in a gender affirming space. From there Edmonton Quadball Association has made inclusivity a goal, and has aimed to make affordability a top priority. The club covers fees for low income players, including students so everyone who wants to can play. For more information, visit www.edmontonquadball.com</image:caption>

This is open to adults of any age and any skill level. The tentative location is at Borden Park in Highlands. Current plan is to have 5 Saturdays between May and July, 2 hours each, for us to gather and play. We will try to obtain funding for the basics (bats, balls, bases) and so that registration fees can be reduced. We might have to set the upper limit at about 30 players for this year, but that will depend on how much interest there is. To plan for diamond rentals, I need to have a better sense of how many might want to join. Please email queercatsyeg@gmail.com if you want to play (you are not obligated to join if you change your mind later). Queercatsyeg General Manager Thanks for your time!
