Edmonton ArcticFront Runners
Edmonton ArcticFront Runners is a recreational running and walking group for Edmonton's LGBT community. Our goal is to provide a friendly and supportive atmosphere in which to engage in these activities. Runners and walkers of all degrees of experience and ability are welcome. We are active year round and now have multiple runs every week. If you are joining us for the first time we encourage you to contact the run coordinator prior to the run so that we are sure to meet you and introduce you to the group before we set out. We send out weekly reminders of our runs by e-mail, if you do not have e-mail and want a telephone reminder we can arrange one. There are no fees associated with our group but we encourage our members to support LGBT recreation in Edmonton by joining Team Edmonton.
Edmonton ArcticFront Runners is affiliated with International Frontrunners. The IF website provides contact information on clubs with which you can run while traveling as well as information on running technique and running injuries and their avoidance.
Sunday: In spring, summer, and fall we usually meet at the west end of the parking lot in Emily Murphy Park at 10 AM. We run/walk on river valley trails for 50-60 minutes. This year we are planning to start a few of our runs at other sites to explore trails in the Mill Creek and Whitemud ravines. In winter we run from the Kinsmen Centre. After our runs we head to local coffee shops for refreshments and socializing. For more information contact Bill at 436-7892
