The Making Waves Swim Club is Edmonton's masters swim club for the gay and lesbian community and their friends. Since 1999, their mission has been to promote the masters' swimming philosophy of "Fun, Fitness, Friendship & Participation" in a gay positive and supportive environment for all swimmers.

They offer two practices a week with friendly and supportive coaches for novices, as well as competitive swimmers, and organize social events outside the pool for swimmers.

Practices are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings each week at the NAIT pool (11762-106 Street) from early September until the May long weekend (see the calendar http://makingwavesswimclub.ca/Calendar.html for specific dates). Tuesday practices are from 8 to 9pm and Thursday practices are from 7 to 8pm. The club is exploring the option of adding a Saturday morning practice. The first swim of the 2010-2011 season is September 9, 2010.
